As an artist, Amanda Lee Buhler creates drawings and paintings that emphasize the natural forms and structures that inspire wonder and whimsy. The stories that connect the pieces may follow the lines of the organic and microscopic, the architectonic forms of the bee, a musical landscape, movement and balance, or the peace reached in sleep. Her work encourages a moment for inner exploration that connects to our shared experiences in our environment. Much like breathing, she hopes that her work offers a space for both giving and receiving.

sublimation series: Three years in the making, this body of work expresses a prolific exploration of the scyphozoan (jellyfish) form in a variety of drawings, paintings and prints. In the tradition of Hudson River school artists, the work exposes the sublime in nature and the notion of rebirth. The tangled, threadlike contours are woven symmetrically, responding to the fossil-like remains of what came before. Transitioning from one state to another, each piece reveals an opportunity to connect with a subconscious sense of origin.
